Listening (Woody Guthrie, "So Long, It's Been Good to Know You" (1940)

This composition seems to be the beginnings of country music. The use of talking in the middle of piece and the iconic tunes are very prevalent. Furthermore, the lyrics are more geared towards a story telling than pitch and tones. Its almost if he was speaking the words rather than singing. The chord progression is very distinctive towards country of today. I thought that the development of the song is interesting because of the use of the guitar as the only instrument. This opens the door for other musicians to strictly use the guitar to compose.
